playdead is a Montréal-based DJ and producer serving bass-heavy club music with personality, movement and a sense of humour. Their sets move through ghetto tech, Miami bass, UK garage, jungle, juke and footwork, connecting fast percussion, heavy low end and unexpected selections without losing sight of the dancefloor.
Raised in a mixed Turkish, Thai, Bangladeshi and Japanese household, playdead grew up surrounded by different cultures, sounds and perspectives. They began DJing in high school alongside their best friend Sagar Tanwani, now an established producer based in Indonesia.
Their background as an engineer continues to shape how they approach music. There is a technical curiosity behind the selections and transitions, but the goal remains simple: create movement, connection and a genuinely fun dancefloor.

Created and hosted by playdead, Guest Techin' gives emerging DJs access to club-standard equipment, recorded sets and practical support.
Each guest receives a guided practice session followed by a one-hour filmed set and short interview. The project helps DJs create something they are proud of while keeping the opportunity accessible regardless of financial status.
